About Batiks by Gael...Gael has been batiking for over twenty-nine years and is largely self-taught. She uses the traditional method of dye bath submersion. None of the dye is painted on. The materials are 100% cotton, beeswax and permanent procion dyes. Prints are made of the finished work either directly from the cloth or from a photograph.Batiks by Gael also has Gicleé prints available. They are done in archival ink and can be produced in sizes up to 24" by 36". Call or email for a quote.
A unique aspect of Gael's batiking work is the full spectrum of color used. All final pieces have been boiled out four times at a minimum and usually many more times. Each time the wax is boiled out she can introduce a new primary color, and with overlaying of colors is able to achieve the entire color spectrum in each piece. Every year you can find us at the Oregon Country Fair at Booth No. 378. We're at the top of the figure eight. Come by and see us. Gael and her husband Charlie live in community at Breitenbush Hot Springs surrounded by old growth forest and river spirits. Life is good.
